I’ve been reading and looking at pictures of the Woonbeurs (interior fair) for years now. And I always felt like I was missing out. So this year I decided to go. And man, I was not disappointed!
Especially the Eigen Huis & Interieur together with More Than Classic stand was so gorgeous I almost threw up.
Beautiful and Inspirational (yes, with a capital).
Also talented designer Lex Pott showed his awesome new products for Hay.
I was a fan of Lex Pott since I saw his work at the Dutch Design Week last year. And the combination of Lex and Hay is a match made in designer-heaven.
Lex Pott likes his designs to be reduced to their fundamentals. His designs show the essence of the object. So working together with Hay, a brand that wants to invoke the innovate design of the 50’s and 60’s, is just golden. I literally had to rip myself away form this stand (and from photographing myself in all the cool mirrors).
The stand of Eigen Huis & Interieur in collaboration with More Than Classic was just too good for words. Steven van Manen did a stand out job putting this stand together.
The thing I liked best about the stand: Objects were mixed together is a very forward way. This made the whole stand feel so new and fresh.
And to top it of Eigen Huis & Interieur presented their own furniture line. The whole stand looked like one big yummie pastel candy. And the pieces were really good.
And even though it is not a great picture, I just have to show you this blue sofa. It was the best sofa ever! The velvet and cushions were so soft, it felt like a cloud. Seriously, I’ve been dreaming about this sofa…
Sunday I visited ShowUP with Anki and Marieke. This was the 4th edition of the Home & Gift trade show. And it was just beautiful. The first thing you notice it the awesome venue at the westergasfabriek. I took some pictures of the ceiling with my iPhone and one of them ended up blurry, but I actually love it the most.
The great thing about Show UP was the mix of new talent with big brands which made for beautiful and creative stands. The other great thing was chatting with some amazing people behind all of these products.
One of my favourite stands was the one with the dripping diamonds by De Krantenkapper. They also did beautiful things with jugs of water and gold leaf.
Other favourites were &klevering‘s tea lights and the beautiful candles and posters of Mo Man Tai. Also the new line of Ferm Living was lovely and playful.
And it was love at first sight with the bedding by Fabelab, they totally understand kids playing with basically everything available to them. And the bedding can be transformed into wings or a cape. Things like that make me wish I was still 5 years old.
This little mug and bowl set also stole my heart. It’s shrouded in mystery since I totally forgot to find out by what brand it is. But I’m sure we’ll be seeing that set around the internets!
I was always told that you could keep your christmas tree and decorations until the sixth of january (Three Kings or the Epiphany). So I think it’s okay to blog about our christmas-interior after christmas as well.
This year we kept it simple and mostly mint-coloured (except for our pink christmas tree). I think the thing I like most about christmas is the complete overkill of sparkle! And you don’t even have to apologize for it. Also I love to watch my favourite christmas movies The Night Before Christmas and Elf, although I think I may have watched Elf a little too many times. I can’t get it out of my head!
I hope you all had a lovely christmas too!
Last friday I joined Iris for the opening of the wonderful Urlaub Illustration and Concept Store. What an inspiring place! Ellen did such a great job putting it all together. There was so much to see (and buy). I really love to see products that were made with such attention and care. And of course there were lovely people to chat to and eat with. A great evening! Of course I couldn’t resist buying something for our future baby girl. I also couldn’t resist leaving Ellen a little message about her shop with a funny little man on a chalkboard.
This christmas I was incredibly late with decorating. The last christmas decorations seriously went up on christmas morning! Any way just before I take everything down again, I thought I’d spread a little belated christmas cheer.
Also today is the last day of 2012. And to be honest 2012 has been pretty intense. I could really use a new year and new opportunities! So for all of you who got their asses kicked in 2012, I wish you all a better and more beautiful 2013!
Warning! To read this post, one must be able to imagine the vibrant neon colours yourself! (neon is such a bitch to photograph*)
Of course Berlin meant lots of walking around and also a wee bit of shopping! I finally got the beautiful Hay archive folder, which is so beautiful when you fold it open that I seriously doubt whether I’ll actually ever use it for storage.
I also found the sweetest Little Elephant cup for Mini and some chocolates with awesome packaging. And of course there were also magazines and art books that simply had to be bought over at Do You Read Me?! Such a great trip and great finds too!
* quoting Philomeen and Marlous here of course!
