One year ago our little girl came into the world rather unexpected. And she has been a surprise ever since.
Before you have a child, you can’t really imagine the idea of creating a new person with a its very own character. When you have a second child, you can’t imagine it even being different from the first one.
Yet, she is so very different. I love discovering who this little girl is.
It’s so awesome to be part of her journey and watch her grow.
And of course, life easily gets in the way of blogging. Even if your resolved to change your ways. I guess I need a slow start!
A while ago I took some pictures of Elfgirl’s room. Since the last time I photographed her room we’ve added the Hay Gym Hook for her little clothes. It took me a while to find something that didn’t take up a lot of space. And we can add as we go along. I think I’d love a wall full of them!
Last year when we just started to put her room together, we hung a Moderna Museet Andy Warhol poster next to her bed. Now I’m thinking of taking it down and hanging a couple of prints instead. I love the Andy Warhol poster but it does limit your options on a tiny wall space! And Bat Girl has been standing on the ground for almost a year now and I’m thinking she’d like a chance up there.
The blanket in her bed was knitted by my mother, who hates knitting large things because they take too long, but she made an exception for me.
It’s been awfully quiet here as I have been enjoying/surviving our baby girl’s first months. And today I thought is was high time to share a few images from the first couple of days. Like my first proper meeting with this little lady after a C-section.
She’s 3 months old now and my maternity leave is over. So that means getting back to work and blogging as well!
It’s been a longer absence than I was planning on, but as fate would have it breast milk actually destroyed my computer (I spilt it on the keyboard and then everything went dark FOREVER). For now I’m making due with a macbook from 2005 The Boyfriend dug up. But I guess that will do for a while at least I’m back online!
And here’s the After. We’ve used the same vintage furniture that used to be Mini’s. I still love the colours so we kept them too. And we painted one wall in colours to match. Which was quite an adventure were we dealt with equilateral triangles versus unequal triangles and there were even some Mondriaan references on Boyfriends part…
I’m really happy with the result and the graphic shapes. I even found a vintage glass lampshade that goes really well with the wall! And maybe it’s my strange sense of humor but I still get a little kick out of this particular Andy Warhol quote in a baby’s room… 🙂
I wanted to share our road from transforming this small white room into a nursery. But I failed miserably at this.
So I thought I’d just make a little ‘before and after‘.
For today: the Before, this is how the room looked before we got to work.
This week I am 39 weeks pregnant.
I was afraid that there would be a total overkill on this blog about all the pregnancy and baby stuff.
But because of my total irregular blogging habits and all the tiredness that both stem from being pregnant, I realize that there is actually a major ‘underkill’ on prenancy and baby stuff.
So prepare for a little more of that. To get things started, bellies!
(which I also photographed most irregularly)
Finally a blogpost again! I’ve been pretty low on energy this whole pregnancy. Usually I blog after putting Mini to bed. But being pregnant means that most nights Mini’s bedtime is my bedtime. Not so good for the blog! But I’m going to try and make a little more time for it. Changing my ways and writing before Mini’s bedtime instead of trying to after. I’ll also be doing a little catch up on the things I did manage to do the past month(s).
(The little piece of poster is by zilverblauw of course!)
