A Visit to the Woonbeurs

I’ve been reading and looking at pictures of the Woonbeurs (interior fair) for years now. And I always felt like I was missing out. So this year I decided to go. And man, I was not disappointed!
Especially the Eigen Huis & Interieur together with More Than Classic stand was so gorgeous I almost threw up.
Beautiful and Inspirational (yes, with a capital).
Also talented designer Lex Pott showed his awesome new products for Hay. woonbeurs lex-pott 1

I was a fan of Lex Pott since I saw his work at the Dutch Design Week last year. And the combination of Lex and Hay is a match made in designer-heaven.
Lex Pott likes his designs to be reduced to their fundamentals. His designs show the essence of the object. So working together with Hay, a brand that wants to invoke the innovate design of the 50’s and 60’s, is just golden. I literally had to rip myself away form this stand (and from photographing myself in all the cool mirrors).

woonbeurs EH&I 1

The stand of Eigen Huis & Interieur in collaboration with More Than Classic was just too good for words. Steven van Manen did a stand out job putting this stand together.
The thing I liked best about the stand: Objects were mixed together is a very forward way. This made the whole stand feel so new and fresh. woonbeurs EH&I 2

And to top it of Eigen Huis & Interieur presented their own furniture line. The whole stand looked like one big yummie pastel candy. And the pieces were really good.

And even though it is not a great picture, I just have to show you this blue sofa. It was the best sofa ever! The velvet and cushions were so soft, it felt like a cloud. Seriously, I’ve been dreaming about this sofa…

Last Days of Christmas…

christmas#1

I was always told that you could keep your christmas tree and decorations until the sixth of january (Three Kings or the Epiphany). So I think it’s okay to blog about our christmas-interior after christmas as well.

christmas#2

This year we kept it simple and mostly mint-coloured (except for our pink christmas tree). I think the thing I like most about christmas is the complete overkill of sparkle! And you don’t even have to apologize for it.  Also I love to watch my favourite christmas movies The Night Before Christmas and Elf, although I think I may have watched Elf a little too many times. I can’t get it out of my head!

I hope you all had a lovely christmas too!

Around the House

around the house#1

Thing I like least about autumn is the disappearing light. It makes me long for lighter times. This summer I spent a lot of time around the house on maternity leave. And though I’ve spent most of that time taking care of a baby and trying to get some sleep in whatever time was left, I did manage to salvage some photo’s I took and uploaded before my disastrous breast-milk-incident. So today just some combinations from around the house (in lighter and sunnier times).

Moth Love

moth#1

Because this summer was all about baby, attention for us as a couple was on the backburner. But this July Le Boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary, 9 years together! And this year we  decided on a new tradition. Instead of both of us buying each other gifts, we join forces and buy something together that we both really like. This started last year with our Bananas sign to commemorate the year we’ve had (it too was bananas). So when  Boyfriend suggested we’d do a similar thing this year, I was on board! I really like the idea of picking out something together to celebrate each year we shared.
This year we choose to give each other the Snowpuppe Moth lamp for in our bed room.

Mae Engelgeer on the Sofa

mae engelgeer#1

A while ago I got one of those gorgeous tea towels from Mae Engelgeer. But I just couldn’t bare to actually do the dishes with it or worse, use it while cooking and getting grease  and other hard to remove stains on it. So I took a little inspiration from Enigheid and made a cushion out of the towel.

Nursery: the After

nursery#1

And here’s the After. We’ve used the same vintage furniture that used to be Mini’s. I still love the colours so we kept them too. And we painted one wall in colours to match. Which was quite an adventure were we dealt with equilateral triangles versus unequal triangles and there were even some Mondriaan references on Boyfriends part…

I’m really happy with the result and the graphic shapes. I even found a vintage glass lampshade that goes really well with the wall! And maybe it’s my strange sense of humor but I still get a little kick out of this particular Andy Warhol quote in a baby’s room… 🙂

Lazy Sunday

Today we did a whole lot of nothing.

lazy#1

There was some cookie eating,  a little tea drinking, a bit of book reading, a splash of movie watching (How To Train Your Dragon for the millionth time) and just a tad of popcorn eating.

lazy#2

Mini was a little less lazy and also managed to turn our house into a toy labyrinth.
I love days like this.
